Abstract

Abstract
The shifting of the characteristics of primary relational experiences onto current relationships is a universal human phenomenon. Freud understood that this shift (translation or “transference”), which occurs mostly at the unconscious level, not only takes place in the psychotherapeutic relationship, but that it represents a formidable system available to the therapist to understand the patient, help him understand himself and, if you are lucky, to see him get rid of his own dysfunctional behaviors (often, in fact, unconscious repropositions of “inadequate” primary relationships). However, it is not always easy for the psychotherapist to grasp the phenomena of “transference”, especially when they take place. This work deals precisely with the (ignored) occurrence of a phenomenon of probable “transference” nature. The (very late) discovery of the probable transference phenomenon that occurred, the sudden “explanation” thanks to it of an important episode of hostility by the patient towards me, hitherto incomprehensible, filled me so much with amazement, and was so instructive, that I wished to reconstruct and share the likely genesis and details of this story.
